FDA HR Portal

For me that nature was people. I wanted this site to feel like all those who were using were connected to individuals and not just back-end code. I went with blue tones and images of, well, people to convey this message.

I started by creating logos that would represent the current FDA brand while at the same time having visuals that would represent the nature of the website.

The FDA OneHR portal was a rebrand project for an interal website.

Discovery & Research

To start the project,

I conducted a thorough discovery phase to understand the needs of FDA employees, their interaction with the internal website, and their expectations for a modernized platform. This involved:

  • Stakeholder Interviews: Speaking with internal teams to uncover pain points and opportunities for improvement.

  • User Surveys: Gathering insights from employees to understand their daily workflows and prioritize features that would enhance their experience.

  • Competitive Analysis: Benchmarking against similar organizations to identify best practices in usability and design for internal tools.

Ideation & Concept Development

  • Using the research findings, I moved into ideation to outline a clear vision for the redesign and rebranding. My goals included:

  • Creating a more cohesive and recognizable visual identity that aligned with FDA’s mission and culture.

  • Redesigning navigation and information architecture to make the site more intuitive.

  • Establishing a modular design system to maintain consistency and scalability.

Wireframing & Prototyping

With objectives in mind, I built low-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes:

  • Wireframes: Focused on restructuring the layout to emphasize ease of use and accessibility.

  • Prototypes: Created interactive models using Figma to simulate key workflows, such as accessing resources or submitting HR forms.

Visual Design & Branding

  • The visual design emphasized FDA’s core values of transparency, innovation, and integrity. Highlights included:

  • A revised color palette reflecting professionalism and warmth to make the site more approachable.

  • Consistent use of typography and iconography across all pages.

  • Designing unique graphic elements for banners, buttons, and headers to align with the new brand identity.
